My favorite reads are Charles de Lint, Glen Cook’s The Black Company Series and Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game. To me, the best books explore the possibility of the fantastic while entrenched in the realities we have to cope with.

First novels are often considered practice novels in which the exuberant novice novelist falls into pitfall after narrative pitfall. My freshman effort, The Horde falls squarely into that category. In this blog, I’ll be posting serial sections of The Horde followed by my own critique of the writing. Please feel free to add your own critiques – I’d love to know what you think.

If you want to read The Horde from the beginning, click here. It includes all the narrative up to the most recently posted selection.
